Welcome to BPSA!

Who are we?

183rd Tonkawa is an all inclusive traditional scout organization based in Cedar Park, Texas. We are a group of youth and adults that come from all walks of life, who enjoy the outdoors and contributing to our community. We look forward to exploring our natural world, making new friends, and doing a good turn everyday. We are a 501(c)3 organization, and completely volunteer led.

183rd Tonkawa is a sister group of the 7th Trailblazers and the 96th Riverine in Austin.  We work closely with their leadership, and incorporate their participation in our activities.  183rd Tonkawa and 7th Trailblazers maintain a combined Rover Crew.

What is Baden-Powell Service Association?

Baden-Powell Service Association, BPSA, is a community-oriented traditional scouting program for youth and adults of all ages and genders in the United States. BPSA was founded on the traditional scouting principals of the founder and Chief Scout of the Scouting Movement, Lord Robert Baden-Powell. It is B-P’s writings and Scouting program that are the roots of all Scouting organizations and associations around the world. The aim of our association is, as stated by B-P himself, to promote good citizenship and physical, mental development and training in habits of observation, discipline, self-reliance, loyalty, and useful life skills. We meet outdoors, and service to the community is one of our core tenets. Our badgework focuses on proficiency in outdoor skills, citizenship, and self-reliance. We strive to preserve B-P’s original methods and educational philosophy in our program as much as possible, while modernizing language to keep up with societal evolution and staying up-to-date with best practice and safety in outdoor education.

There is no religious requirement and our groups are independent from sponsoring organizations. We offer the experience of scouting to anyone who wishes to join us.

We are not affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America or the Girl Scouts, USA or their governing scout associations. We are members of the World Federation of Independent Scouts (WFIS) and as such are not in competition with other American scouting associations; we are merely their brothers and sisters in scouting.
